Mike is a systems thinker and a pragmatist:
Mike approaches complex organizational
challenges by stripping away the "fluff", focusing entirely on the underlying structural and financial mechanics, and coming up with solutions that are cost effective and serve the community. Mike has been a commuity advocate through the years, first with the Concerned Citizens Committe of North Bay, and again with the North Bay Health Coaltion.
Mike will protect independent community assets:
Mike has a sharp eye for corporate overreach, administrative bullying, and the subtle ways public assets can be financially manipulated or consolidated to absorb broader system debts. He also possess a strong instinct to protect vulnerable community resources, such as affordable seniors' housing, from institutional erosion. Mike doesn't give anything up easily either.
Mike has well practiced research skills:
Mike has skills that helps bridging micro-level systemic impacts with macro-level political and municipal strategy. He can easily pivot from tracking the organizational stress and trauma inflicted on front-line staff to using corporate bylaws, debate skills, and electoral data to temper disparate power structures. Mike's momma raised him to have empathy and she taught him to be be smart too.

Motion #1: North Bay Municipal Financial Dashboard
When he is elected, Mike said he would put forward a motion for a financial transparency policy aimed at opening City Hall’s books completely to the public. He pledges to mandate the regular publication of a comprehensive, itemized ledger of all departmental costs, vendor payments, and civic expenditures accessible to every citizen.This initiative is a modern restoration of a proud local tradition.
During the 1940s, 50s, and 60s, North Bay residents didn't have to guess where their tax dollars went. Every year, the city published full-page public ledgers in the North Bay Nugget. Citizens could sit at their kitchen tables and audit every department line-by-line, tracking everything from Public Works gravel purchases to individual city salaries.
Decades ago, North Bay practiced the gold standard of accountability. If a department spent a dollar of the public's money, it was printed openly for all to see. Over the years, that level of granular transparency was buried behind complex, summarized corporate financial statements. MIke is running to bring that accountability back into the 21st century.
While city financial statements are currently summarized in high-level overviews, Mike will request City Hall staff incorporate a digital Dashboard into their newly proposed customer service process. This Dashboard will provide:
Itemized Departmental Ledgers:
Publicly posted granular operational costs for every civic department, from Fire and Emergency Services to Parks and Recreation.
Modern Digital Transparency:
An easily searchable, online public portal that mirrors the clarity of the historic Nugget pages, ensuring no citizen needs a Freedom of Information (FOI) request just to see a vendor invoice.
Regular Public Report Cards:
Providing clear, un-summarized spending updates to the public ahead of annual budget votes to eliminate "creative accounting" and restore absolute trust.
If it was possible to lay out every penny using a typewriter and a printing press in 1950, there is no excuse for hiding behind vague budget categories during the digital era of 2026. I don’t think I’m wrong in saying many
North Bayites feel it’s time to reinstitute the transparency of our past to protect the taxpayers of our present. Back then, the city worked harder to show the data despite physical limitations, whereas today, despite having the internet, the data is harder for an average citizen to find. The kicker is modern technology makes this free.
The city already tracks these numbers digitally; it costs nothing to export the raw ledger to a public website.
